Programmes
To support the value and contribution of the GBVCC the Department of Social Development also have Victim Empowerment Programme that focuses on transforming people’s attitudes, practices and behavior change. The programme is inter-sectoral and inter-departmental based on strong partnerships with government, civil society organisations, volunteers, business, academics and research institutions.
The programme focuses on victim-centered approach to crime and strives towards developing knowledge of victim issues, strengthening resources, addressing needs of the victims, and stimulating volunteer participation and prevention of secondary victimization etc. For example:
Implementation of the Everyday Heroes Brand. (This is a VEP Brand to educate and raise awareness on the impact of violence to all vulnerable groups).
